Want to qualify as a professional teacher?
We are an Approved Dance Centre, under our sister name Woking Teacher Training College. We offer training in both Modern and Tap. Once completed you will hold a Diploma in Dance Education.
Who runs the course?
The course is run by Fellowship status teachers in both genres who are approved by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.
How long will it take?
This is the most common question we have, yet it is the most difficult to answer. It will depend on the experience and expertise you bring when you start training as well as the course you choose to follow. It will also depend on the amount of time you have to dedicate away from your guided learning at Woking Teacher Training College. We offer a part time course with classes taking place either during the day or in the evening. The programme takes an average of 2 years in one genre to fully equip a student teacher.
How much will it cost?
Again, this will depend on how long it takes for you to complete the course, your knowledge and experience in the syllabus already and eligibility for exemption in units. Please contact us for more details.
What is involved?
A level 4 course over five units. The course covers, Safe Dance Practice in Dance, Observing Assisting and own Teaching Practice, Vocational Level Training with the ISTD, Dance Practice and Social Emotional and Cognitive training. This ensures you are well prepared in your teaching to your own students in the future.
I have dance teaching experience already?
We will be able to guide you to your own previous learning and experience. You may be exempt from some units or it may mean you will be able to complete the course quicker.
